Beverley
Athletic Club aims to ensure that all children and young people
participating in our coaching sessions are protected and kept safe
from harm.
To
this end we will strive to: -
-
Provide
and implement procedures to safeguard the well being of all
participants and protect them from potential harm and abuse.
-
Respect
and promote the rights, wishes and feelings of all
participants.
-
Adopt
good practice in the recruitment, training and supervision of
all volunteers – coaches and helpers.
-
Respond
to all allegations and concerns quickly and sensitively.
In
pursuance of these aims we will: -
Create
and provide a safe environment in which children and young people
are safe from abuse and in which any suspicion of abuse is
promptly and appropriately responded to.
Volunteers
and parents who work with children and young people will where
appropriate go through a police check.
Create
an environment of good practice that no individual suffers
bullying, shouting, racism or sexism.
Provide
regular opportunities for volunteers to learn about child
protection and Health & Safety issues.
A
“Whistle Blowing” policy that is open and well publicised in
which adults and young people can voice concerns about abusive or
unethical conduct. It
takes courage to challenge inappropriate behaviour by a member.
When abuse occurs in organisations there is usually someone
who had concerns, but may not have felt able to act on them.
A
protective culture that puts children and young people’s
interest first.
Children
and young people must feel confident that if they have concerns
someone will listen and take them seriously.
All
activities are planned and appropriate for age, ability, clothing
and equipment.
Make
every effort to prevent situations where an adult is alone with a
child or group of children.
Have
at least two responsible adults present at every training session.
Adopt
good practice in attending away events including travel
arrangements.
Recognise
and respect the physical and psychological development of
individuals.
Make
every effort to create a safe and enjoyable training situation.
Ensure
that all staff conduct themselves in an exemplary manner
providing a role model for excellent behaviour.
Ensure
that the Club keeps up to date with the correct procedures and
contacts for dealing with allegations and concerns.
Offer
support to anyone reporting concerns regarding suspicious or poor
practice or suspicion of child abuse issues.
In
the event of alleged misconduct Andrew Tate is responsible for all
complaints and matters of concern.
